It is hard to believe but we have arrived in Milan.  We left Boston Wednesday late afternoon with 11 pieces of luggage.  We travel light!  It actually was an easy flight although the food offered by British Air leaves something to be desired.  We arrived at Heathrow at approximately 6:30 a.m.  Our 9:30 a.m. flight to Milan was cancelled but B.A. very efficiently booked us on a 12:00 p.m. flight.  Miraculously all the luggage arrived in Milan; we were able to get a porter and a taxi large enough to carry all the luggage.  The representative of our relocation company met us at the flat with someone from the rental agency.  They were great.  The flat is fine - plenty of space and a reasonable size guest room -important information for those of you who are going to be visiting us.  Our street is a combination of funk and grunge but it is only our street -- everything around us are normal urban streets.   Last night we had a light Italian meal with wonderful cheeses to begin and then shared pasta dishes of pasta with a cream nut sauce (very northern Italian) and pasta with shrimp and artichokes.  Today we did our first large grocery shop, first challenge to find the recommended store; we did without difficulty and then to figure out where and what everything is.  Perfect place to learn a language.  I did ask a very nice young woman if she spoke a little English -- she said yes.  I asked her where the flour is.  She brought me to the roses.  I have to work on my Italian.

We walked to Bocconi - where Ken will be located - it is an easy 15 minute walk.  His building is very urban and modern.  We sat down at a cafe and coincidently met two faculty members from the buisness school at Boccini.  One had just returned from a year at MIT.  He said he will be in toucvh with Ken.

Tomorrow we check out an open market and maybe head for the Duomo.  I will start posting pictures soon.

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend.

Today We Depart

Today we depart for Milan -- 7:10 flight from Boston to London and then on to Milan.  We will meet the real estate agent at our flat - hopefully she will be there because we have 11 suitcases.
